ROCK CLIMBING
Rock climbing takes you to some incredible places and allows you to get in some amazing positions. Whatever your ability and experience come and enjoy this exhilarating sport.
Whether it’s a taster into what climbing outside is like, perhaps you’ve done a bit of indoor climbing and fancy a bit more adventure or maybe there’s that route that you’ve always wanted to climb, but never had the confidence to have a go.
Whatever you decide, I can offer you an enjoyable adventure along with learning skills along the way. Climb classic routes such as Napes Needle (HS), Troutdale pinnacle (S), Boterill’s Slab (VS), Murray’s route (S) in hopefully some warm Cumbrian sunshine.
For a full days guided climbing, including equipment if required (helmet, harness, ropes, gear) I charge £220 per day with a 1:2 maximum ratio.
SCRAMBLING
Are you looking for a thrilling adventure, but not quite ready for rock climbing, then scrambling is for you. Sitting somewhere between hill walking and rock climbing allows some incredible classic scrambles from Striding Edge on Helvellyn to the iconic Cuillin Ridge on Isle of Skye.
Scrambling certainly adds a further challenge whilst exploring the mountains. There are many scrambles situated in the Lake District, of all different technicalities to suit whatever ability you’re at. One of the finest scrambles would be Pinnacle Ridge on St. Sunday crag (grade 3), an exciting jagged ridge line with interest from start to finish. Other scrambles in the Lakes include Jacks Rake, Striding Edge, Sharp Edge and many more.
Outside of the Lakes, there are endless opportunities of exhilarating scrambles from the Cuillin Ridge on Skye, Aonach Eagach in Glen Coe, Crib Goch and Tryfan in Snowdonia plus many more. Whatever it may be, I’ll ensure you have an amazing time.
For guided scrambling in the Lakes I charge £220, with all kit included with a 1:2 maximum ratio.
HILL WALKING
Explore some of the Lake Districts finest mountain scenery, with a huge variety of different terrains, including England's tallest mountain, Scafell Pike, this spectacular national park has It all.
Home to the tallest mountain in England, Scafell Pike, the Lake District allows you to explore some of the finest landscapes around. From the classic ridge lines of Helvellyn to the mining history enriched in the Coniston fells, there's so much to see and what better way to do it with a qualified instructor to keep you safe and happy throughout the day. I offer hill walking in both summer and winter and tailor the experience specifically to you and if you're not sure where, I'll make sure I choose the right walk for you.
For a full days guiding in summer I charge £200 on a 1:4 ratio with an extra £40 per person there after, to a maximum of 8.
In winter I charge £220 with a ratio of 1:4 with an extra £40 per person there after, to a maximum of 8.
SCOTTISH DAYS
Scotland is home to some of the best rock climbing, scrambling and mountains that the United Kingdom has to offer. The Scottish Islands and Highlands has a lifetime worth of adventure to be had from climbing on the U.K's tallest mountain Ben Nevis to the dramatic ridges of Torridon, Scotland offers everything.
If you’re looking for adventure, then look no further than Scotland, this magical place has it all. Some of the best days I’ve ever had has been here. From climbing some of the biggest rock climbs in the U.K on Ben Nevis, to walking in the wild and remote mountains of the Fisherfields or perhaps wanting that additional challenge of doing the most technical Munro’s on the Isle of Skye, I’d love to help you achieve whatever goal or ambition that you may have.
For any days in Scotland I charge £250, with climbing/ mountaineering at a 1:2 ratio and 1:6 hill walking.
WINTER SKILLS
Winter can be a very challenging time of year at the best of times, even more so when you venture into the mountains with snow, ice and the elements to contend with. Unlike summer, there are essential skills and equipment that are required to move through this majestic environment, this skills are vital.
Despite winter being the most challenging time of year, it’s certainly one of the most rewarding. The sound of the wind whistling over the hills, or the crisp crunch of your crampons biting on the snow underfoot, it’s in this environment where having the essential skills to keep you safe are vital.
On this one day skills course, I will share lots of knowledge about the winter environment, including reading avalanche forecasts, gaining avalanche awareness, what kit is required in winter, how to navigate in winter, how to use winter equipment such as an ice axe and crampons, plus much more.
I charge £220 for the day on a 1:2 ratio with £40 thereafter to a maximum of 6. I also don’t have a pool of winter equipment (boots, crampons, axes etc), so this can’t be hired.
RUNNING & SKILLS
Whether it's a navigational stress free few hours in the morning or afternoon to explore some of the Lake District's finest mountains or hidden trails, or a fully immersive adventure seeing the incredible sights of the park. To perhaps gaining further skills to stay safe in the hills, look no further.
Your running experience will be designed and planned entirely for you, whether it’s getting into trail or fell running for the first time, learning how to be efficient and safe in the mountains with skills on how to navigate and look after yourself to running particular legs of the Bob Graham or similar challenges.
With local knowledge, leadership skills, mountain experience and coaching qualifications, I can tailor the day for you and cater for all types of abilities and experience.
I charge £180 for a full day (6 hours) and £120 for a half day (3 hours), with half days being either morning or afternoon.
